Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) chief Abhijeet Dipke made sharp remarks against the Centre at a press conference in Delhi. He asked why so much was being done to protect Gyanesh Kumar. Dipke said that Gyanesh Kumar was giving Narendra Modi something so valuable that Modi was ready to bring all of Delhi to a standstill for him.
On Wednesday morning, CJP spokespersons Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were sent to jail in connection with hoisting the tricolour at Jantar Mantar. Dipke targeted the Centre directly over this. Neha Bora, president of a students' organisation, senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan and veteran actor Prakash Raj were also present at the press conference. Several students had also come. Both Neha Bora and Dipke launched a strong attack on the Modi government at the Centre.
Dipke said, "Before our October 10 movement of the Cockroach Janta Party, all railways in the country were shut down. Perhaps for the first time in the country's history, railways were shut down, something that did not happen even during the Emergency. But railways were shut down to protect one Gyanesh Kumar. Even after shutting the railways, they were not satisfied, so Delhi's metro stations were closed. When that was not enough, army personnel were called in from Jammu and Kashmir and Naxal-affected areas. All this was done for one Gyanesh Kumar."
According to Dipke, when Ashutosh and Saurav hoisted the tricolour at Jantar Mantar early in the morning, they were picked up, detained and sent to judicial custody. He said even hoisting the tricolour was termed a violation of law, and that too only to protect Gyanesh Kumar. Dipke said, "You have brought Delhi to a standstill. You have shut down railways and the metro. You have turned Delhi into a Pakistan border."
He further said students and young people were dragged on the streets. Opposition leaders and former chief ministers were treated the same way. Dipke asked why all this was being done for one Gyanesh Kumar, and why Gyanesh Kumar was so important to Modi. He asked, if that was so, why should people not believe that Gyanesh Kumar is helping Narendra Modi win elections. He asked whether Modi would make so much effort to protect him if he were not helping win elections.
Dipke also said that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar listens to no one, only to his political masters. According to him, Prime Minister Modi put his entire machinery to work to protect Gyanesh Kumar. Since then, all student organisations across the country and young people on Delhi's streets have been fighting. Dipke said he too was dragged on the streets, and that Neha, Ayesha, Viraj and Ishara were all pulled away. Dipke also said that opposition leaders, former chief ministers Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal and Pinarayi Vijayan were also dragged away on Delhi's streets.
