Ahead of the coming elections, a special drive is under way in Maharashtra to add the names of eligible citizens to the voter list. The Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra, and the Election Commission of India have organised special camps at all polling stations in the state on October 17, 18, 24 and 25, 2026.
Citizens have been urged to make use of the opportunity and check their names on the voter list. If needed, claims and objections can be submitted till October 26, which means applications can be filed up to the day after the last of the four camp days.
For the drive, 36 district election officers, 288 electoral registration officers, 7,100 assistant electoral registration officers and 1,00,253 booth-level officers are at work in the state. During the camps, these officials will be present at polling stations to guide citizens on registration, corrections and filling in applications.
Eligible citizens whose names are not on the voter list can fill Form 6 for new registration.
Those who wish to object, as per the rules, to a name on the list, or request the deletion of a name, can use Form 7.
Form 8 can be filled to report a change of residential address, correct personal details, get a new voter identity card (EPIC) or be registered as a voter with disability.
Citizens facing any difficulty in the registration or application process can call the 1950 helpline number. Information on district-wise help centres is available on the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra.
Checking names and details on the voter list in time and submitting the required applications can help avoid problems later in the process. Eligible citizens have therefore been asked to take advantage of the special camps and file their claims and objections within the stipulated time.
