Amravati teachers' seat: 20 file 29 nominations on last day, total candidates reach 31
Tuesday was the sixth and final day of nominations for the Amravati division teachers' constituency seat of the Legislative Council, with 31 candidates in all.

Amravati: Tuesday was the sixth and last day for filing nominations for the election to the Amravati division teachers' constituency seat of the Legislative Council. On the day, 20 candidates filed a total of 29 nomination papers. On the same day, two people also picked up six nomination papers. The total number of candidates who have filed nominations so far has reached 31.
Those who filed papers on Tuesday include Sumit Sureshrao Pawar (independent), Upendra Babarao Patil (Shiv Sena independent), Sangita Sachindra Shinde-Bonde (BJP 2 independent), Vinod Pralhad Kadu (independent), Dilip Bhimrao Kadu (independent), Sajil Khan Khalil Khan (independent), Shrikrishna Suryabhan Pahurkar (independent) and Aditi Rushikesh Pohare (Indian National Congress - 3).
Nominations were also filed by Bhoyar Chandrashekhar alias Shekhar Manoharrao (BJP+independent), Prof. Dr Santosh Shrikrishna Hushe (independent), Nitin Subhashrao Age (independent 3), Preeti Harshal Revane (Rashtriya Yuva Swabhiman Party independent), Gajanan Ramchandra Ulhe (independent), Milind Tukaram Brahmane (independent), Kiran Arjun Chaudhari (independent), Hemlata Dilipsing Munot (independent), Kiran Arjun Pawar (independent), Rajeshkumar Shaligram Kad (independent), Prof. Anil Madhukarrao Kale (Baliraja Party) and Ramdas Sampatrao Katak (independent).
The returning officer's office has said that a candidate may give written authority to any of the proposers or an election representative. Such a proposer or representative can complete this at the office of the returning officer and divisional commissioner, or of the assistant returning officer and joint commissioner (general administration), by 3 pm on Friday.
Congress candidate Aditi Rushikesh Pohare filed her papers in the presence of state president Harshwardhan Sapkal. Present on the occasion were MP Balwant Wankhade, former minister Dr Sunil Deshmukh, Adv. Yashomati Thakur, Harshwardhan Deshmukh, MLA Sajid Pathan, graduates' constituency MLA Dhiraj Lingade, former MLA Virendra Jagtap, district president Bablu Deshmukh, city president Bablu Shekhawat, Dilip Edtkar, women's wing president Jayshree Wankhade, state vice-president Nazir Khan BK, Anjali Thakre, Ganesh Roy and municipal corporation Leader of the Opposition Vilas Ingole, among other office-bearers. By the last day, 31 candidates had filed nominations.
Adv. Preeti Harshal Revane of MLA Ravi Rana's Yuva Swabhiman Party also filed her papers in the presence of the party's senior guide Sunil Rana. Amid slogans from supporters, she submitted her application to the divisional commissioner. Revane is a sitting corporator and also chairperson of the municipal corporation's education committee. Her entry into the contest under MLA Rana's leadership is said to be giving the election's political equations a new twist.
District president Prakash Sabale, women's district president Sonali Navle, Deputy Mayor Sachin Bhende, municipal council president Yogita Koltke and Nitin Kale, along with office-bearers and workers, were also present.
