The political climate has heated up after the release of activists of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) who had called for an agitation against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Abhijit Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were produced before an executive magistrate and then released. After their release, Ranka and Das addressed a press conference and made sharp remarks against the Central government.
At the press conference, Ranka named Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, "India has never seen a prime minister as cowardly as Narendra Modi." He used the remark to question the government's functioning.
Ranka alleged that thousands of activists were detained in the past 72 hours and that people who had set out for the agitation were assaulted. According to him, the situation in Delhi has brought disrepute to the country, and he held Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah responsible for it.
Ranka also made serious allegations against the Election Commission. He said the Central government has taken over the fight being waged against the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Ranka claimed that Gyanesh Kumar is acting at the behest of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah and is trying to help the BJP win. He said the Commission's responsibility is to protect democracy, but alleged that it is working for those in power. Ranka made all these allegations at the press conference.
Speaking of the Emergency of 1975, Ranka said he had only heard about it from his parents, but the situation he had seen in the past 72 hours was grave. He also claimed that several trains were cancelled because of the agitation and passengers were put to hardship.
Ranka said Abhijit Dipke's grandmother has died. In this connection, he also questioned the police's conduct and alleged that Dipke was not allowed to speak to his family. According to Ranka, Dipke has left for Hingoli to meet his family after his release.
Ranka also said the fight that the CJP has started has not stopped and will continue. All eyes are now on how the Central government and the Election Commission respond to these allegations.
