Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), was detained by Delhi Police on Saturday morning. He was preparing for an agitation against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were also detained along with Dipke. According to the information available, the three have been kept at different places.
It is being said that Dipke's flight landed at Delhi airport, after which a police team boarded the aircraft. Dipke, Ranka and Das were then taken into custody. It is also being claimed that the three were taken to an unknown location by bus. Official confirmation is needed on whether they have been formally arrested and where they were taken.
With the party's top leaders in detention, there were fears that preparations for the agitation planned at Jantar Mantar in Delhi would be affected. The question being raised was who would lead the agitation while the main leaders were in police custody.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Dipke had shared a video with an important announcement. It is being claimed that while in police custody he named the new leader of the CJP. In the video, he handed over leadership of the agitation to Ajinkya Shinde.
In the video message, Dipke said: "Ajinkya Shinde will now lead the CJP's Delhi agitation. Ashutosh Ranka, Saurav Das and I have been detained by Delhi Police. So after the three of us, Ajinkya Shinde will lead the agitation. If you are watching this video of mine, work according to Ajinkya Shinde's guidance. After the three of us, he will take charge of the agitation."
Following Dipke's announcement, the command of the agitation will now rest with Shinde. Attention now turns to what form the next protest by the CJP, which has taken up the cause against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, will take, and how Shinde will guide the workers.
Official information is awaited on the exact reasons for detaining the three leaders and on their legal status.
