The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) had announced an agitation at Jantar Mantar in Delhi from Saturday, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party alleges arbitrary functioning and irregularities in the Election Commission of India. The agitation is continuing for the second consecutive day today.

The impact of the Delhi agitation now appears to be reaching other large cities. The CJP has called for protests in both Nagpur and Mumbai. However, the police have refused permission for the Nagpur protest.

The Cockroach Janta Party's protest in Nagpur was proposed for today, October 11, at Samvidhan Chowk. The police did not grant permission, citing law and order. The police letter mentions the Vidhan Bhavan, the RBI and other sensitive places in the Samvidhan Chowk area. The letter also says there is a fear that law-and-order problems could arise on the occasion of Navratri.

The police letter also refers to a protest held on October 4 over the same demand. The police say this agitation could endanger public peace and order. The police assess that the echo of the Delhi agitation could now be heard in Nagpur too.

The CJP has also called for a protest in Mumbai. The party's protest will be held at Shivaji Park at 4 pm today. Through this protest, a "farewell ceremony" will be held for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The CJP has made this appeal in Maharashtra in view of the Delhi agitation.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai police have taken action against those protesting in the August Kranti Maidan and Nana Chowk areas. An FIR has been registered against the protesters at Gamdevi police station. The case has been registered under Sections 223, 126(2), 189(2), 189(3) and 189(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The police took the action for violating prohibitory orders.
