The political temperature across the country has risen over the CJP's protest in Delhi. Police detained Abhijit Dipke and his associates from the aircraft itself. Opposition leaders such as Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal were detained afterwards. The action has caused a major uproar across the country.

Against this backdrop, former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made serious allegations against Delhi Police. In a social media post, she claimed that Delhi Police abducted her and five MPs and drove them around in a prison van for about two hours.

Banerjee said that five MPs are staging a sit-in with her at Dwarka North police station. She also alleged that police stopped and detained her as she was trying to go to Jantar Mantar.

In her post she said: "It is 4 in the evening. At the 'Dwarka North' police station where we have been brought, we have started a sit-in along with our 4 MPs. We were kidnapped and driven around in a police van for two hours. I will not return to Kolkata tonight; and in protest against all that is happening today to the youth and others, I will join the I.N.D.I.A bloc's march on Monday."

Banerjee has sharply criticised the Union government over the action. She called it a "super Emergency". Alleging that protests by students, farmers and women are being suppressed, she questioned the government's stand.

She said she would not return to Kolkata on Saturday night and would continue the sit-in at the police station. She expressed her resolve not to drink even water during the protest. She also said she was prepared to continue the agitation for 48 to 72 hours if required.

The Cockroach Janta Party had called a protest at Jantar Mantar demanding that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resign and the SIR process be scrapped. Delhi Police are reported to have begun preventive action, saying the protest was not permitted.

According to police sources, about 1,000 protesters who tried to head towards Jantar Mantar were detained. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has also alleged that police detained him and his colleagues at the airport.

The Opposition has targeted the Union government over the action in Delhi. A fresh political row has erupted over the right to protest and police action.
