Nagpur: Abhijit Dipke, founder and president of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has reportedly declined the special security arrangement offered by Nagpur Police. It is said that on this visit to Nagpur he has not taken any additional security, including a police escort vehicle, and will travel with only one gunman.

Dipke reached Nagpur on the night of October 13. He is scheduled to visit Deekshabhoomi on October 14, where he will pay tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. He is expected to leave for Delhi after Deekshabhoomi.

Whenever Dipke visits Nagpur, Nagpur Police ordinarily make special security arrangements for him, including an escort vehicle. This time, however, he has reportedly decided to forgo the additional security and has kept only one armed security person with him.

The reason he refused the enhanced security has not been officially made clear. So far, only the fact that he has declined security has come out; no reason has been given.

The decision comes at a time when Dipke's case has recently led to a dispute with Delhi Police. Dipke had alleged that during police custody, access to his mobile phone and conversations with his lawyer were restricted.

Delhi Police have meanwhile put forward their side. The police say Dipke was informed of the death of his grandmother and was also offered help to return home.

His decision not to take special police security during the Nagpur visit has drawn attention, particularly because his scheduled Deekshabhoomi visit is coming up. Still, no official explanation of the reasons for his decision has so far emerged.
