Pune: The speed trial of the much-awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper Express, which is to run on the Mumbai-Bengaluru route, has been successful at Bor Ghat. Given the steep climbs and descents in the ghat, the express ran at 60 kmph in this section. After the trial was completed, the train's rake reached Wadibunder.
With the proposed service set to begin, rail travel between major cities such as Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru is expected to become more comfortable than before. Because of the geography of Bor Ghat, the train's speed will be kept limited in this stretch. It has been stated that after leaving the ghat, the train is planned to run at 110 kmph on the route beyond Lonavala and Karjat. The service on the Mumbai-Bengaluru route is expected to begin soon.
On the make-up of the train, the express will have a total of 16 AC coaches. These include 11 AC three-tier coaches, four AC two-tier coaches and one AC first-class coach. The 11 AC three-tier coaches have a total of 611 berths, the four AC two-tier coaches have 188 berths and the one AC first-class coach has 24 berths. The train's total passenger capacity is thus 823.
According to the proposed timetable, train number 27652, travelling from Bengaluru to Mumbai, will leave KSR Bengaluru at 10 pm. En route, it will reach Dharmavaram at 12.50 am and Wadi at 5.05 am. It is proposed to reach Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 1.30 pm.
In the opposite direction, from Mumbai to Bengaluru, train number 27651 will leave Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 10.30 pm. It will reach Wadi at 7.25 am and Dharmavaram at 11.45 am. It is proposed to reach Bengaluru at 2.50 pm. All these timings and train numbers are part of the proposed timetable.
