Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has termed as unconstitutional the talk by leaders of the Congress and other INDIA bloc parties of taking a march to the Supreme Court. Speaking to reporters in Nagpur, he criticised the Opposition on the issue.
Fadnavis said he was surprised that a leader of the Opposition could say that they would take a march to the Supreme Court and demand a meeting with the Chief Justice. He said he wanted to ask Rahul Gandhi which Constitution says that someone may take out a march to the Supreme Court and demand to meet the CJI.
The Chief Minister also said that the CJI has said that if the Opposition has any grievance, it should come to court. According to Fadnavis, he has been saying repeatedly that Opposition leaders have no faith in the Constitution. He said all of them were anti-Constitution people.
Responding to Rahul Gandhi on the Constitution, Fadnavis said the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha should not forget the history of the Congress. He reminded that in 1975, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had tried to weaken the Constitution by imposing the Emergency. Fadnavis said it was utterly ridiculous that such people were now lecturing others on protecting the Constitution.
On the question of money for the agitation, Fadnavis said that when the protest at Jantar Mantar began, social media companies were paid to keep showing the protest's feed continuously and to set algorithms. According to him, this has been admitted before a parliamentary committee.
Fadnavis also said that Meta has apologised for removing a post by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the money received for such an agitation could be foreign.
