Chandrapur: An appeal has been made to elect Sudhakar Kohale, the Bharatiya Janata Party-Mahayuti candidate in the Nagpur division graduates' constituency election, with a huge majority. The appeal was made by Sudhir Mungantiwar, MLA and former state minister for finance, planning and forests. He said this would give fresh strength to the hopes and bright future of graduates.

Mungantiwar assured voters that Kohale would have his full support in resolving graduates' problems related to education, society and employment. He said he would always stand firmly with Kohale in raising the genuine demands of graduates effectively before the government.

Praising Kohale, Mungantiwar said he is not the kind of leader who appears before the public only at election time. As a member of the Assembly, he has experience of parliamentary work. According to Mungantiwar, Kohale's strengths are his understanding of public issues, continuous contact with ordinary people, a warm bond with party workers and promptness in solving problems. He said his leadership shows a fine blend of knowledge of legislature work and sensitivity to the difficulties of the common man.

Citing his own work in education, Mungantiwar said every kind of progress for Vidarbha runs through education and that he has always been committed to this view. He said the struggle in the legislature to have Nagpur University named after Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj was not merely a matter of renaming. In his view, it was a sincere effort to honour Vidarbha's cultural identity and the thoughts of the Rashtrasant.

Mungantiwar said he persistently worked for a separate Gondwana University so that students of Chandrapur and Gadchiroli need not travel far for higher studies, and so that the doors of higher education open for young men and women from tribal, rural and economically weaker sections. In his view, the establishment of Gondwana University was a very important event in the educational journey of eastern Vidarbha.

He listed an advanced Sainik School in Chandrapur district, a forest academy for forestry education and training, a government agriculture college at Mul and a sub-centre of SNDT Women's University at Ballarpur. He said the thinking behind all of these was to give students opportunities for good, professional and employment-linked education. He called the SNDT sub-centre especially important for higher education of girls, so that girls from rural areas need to go to big cities less and get a chance to become self-reliant.

Mungantiwar also said that, as the next step, efforts are on to set up a sub-centre of Gondwana University in Chandrapur. He said he has also started a chair in the name of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj at Gondwana University. He said he would remain committed to giving students of Chandrapur and Gadchiroli modern courses, research, guidance for competitive examinations, skill-based learning and new employment opportunities.

According to Mungantiwar, graduates face several serious challenges today. Even after higher studies, enough jobs are not available. Youths preparing for competitive examinations face all kinds of difficulties. Delays in government recruitment, the question of vacant posts, few opportunities to learn skills, rising cost of higher education and the need for education suited to new technology all require continuous work.

He said representing the graduates' constituency is not merely a seat in the legislature but a big responsibility to do justice to the hopes and struggles of educated youth. It is essential that the degree in a graduate's hand does not remain a paper qualification but opens doors to employment and gives the strength to live with self-respect. For this, Mungantiwar said, experienced leadership that can negotiate effectively with the government is needed.

Giving graduate voters a special assurance, Mungantiwar said he would not be absolved by leaving the responsibility of solving their problems only to the elected representative. He said he would be with Sudhakar Kohale at every step: coordinating with the government, pursuing matters in the departments concerned, pressing for necessary policy decisions and securing justice for Vidarbha's youth. He said firmly that everyone will work together to give voice to the education, employment and career-related difficulties of graduates across the Nagpur division, including Chandrapur and Gadchiroli, and that these problems are not merely an election issue for him but his responsibility as a public representative and member of society.

Mungantiwar said the graduate voter of the Nagpur division is a sensible, educated section that gives society direction. He said a single vote is important not only for choosing a candidate but for deciding the direction of education, employment, new ideas and Vidarbha's progress in the time ahead. He expressed confidence that in Kohale, graduates have found a leader with experience of Assembly work, close to the people and ready to act on their questions, and that if his experience wins the graduates' trust, the constituency's problems can be resolved more effectively.

Finally, Mungantiwar made an emotional appeal, saying that one vote will certainly bring victory for a candidate, but more important, it will give fresh strength to the hopes of thousands of graduates. He said this is a chance to choose leadership that understands their dreams, raises its voice on their questions and keeps working for their progress. Appealing to voters to elect Sudhakar Kohale with a huge margin, he said he is always with them for the bright future of graduates.
