A programme named "Samvad Setu" was held at Somaiya Polytechnic College in Chandrapur ahead of the Nagpur graduates' constituency election. MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar attended and spoke directly to graduate voters. The event was held to campaign for Sudhakar Kohale, the BJP Mahayuti candidate. Mungantiwar appealed to voters to vote for Kohale.

Mungantiwar stressed the importance of choosing a capable representative to raise questions of education, employment and graduates in the Legislative Council. He also said voters should take care while voting that the vote does not become invalid. The election is on October 23, and he asked every graduate voter to cast a vote. He also appealed to them to elect Kohale by a majority.

Those present at the programme included BJP district president Harish Sharma, general secretary Dr Mangesh Gulwade, Somaiya Group president P. S. Ambatkar, vice-president Piyush Ambatkar, director Ankita Ambatkar, principal Liyakat Ali, Shobhana, Razda Siddiqui, Zamir Shaikh and Nagaraju Yash Bangde, among many others.

Mungantiwar said the graduates' constituency election is different from other elections. According to him, the Indian Constitution has given graduates a chance at representation through the Legislative Council. He said a graduates' representative is not merely a member of the House but a link who discusses basic questions of society, including education, and prompts the government to take necessary decisions. Voters should therefore not think of caste or religion, but vote after looking at the candidate's capability, experience and strength in raising issues.

Mungantiwar said Kohale has experience of the Assembly and the ability to put forward graduates' questions effectively. He believes that if Kohale gets the chance from the graduates' constituency, issues related to education and graduates will get a stronger voice.

On education, Mungantiwar said it is an effective means of human progress and social change, and that educational facilities are essential to give everyone a chance to move ahead. He said that as finance minister he tried to get a government engineering college started in Chandrapur. An agriculture college was brought to Mul instead. An SNDT centre is being built on 50 acres for women's education. A government nursing college has been recognised, and an effort is on to bring a BDS college next year.

According to Mungantiwar, he wants Chandrapur district to advance rapidly in education, students to get good educational opportunities and obstacles on the road to their future to be removed, and he is making continuous efforts for this. He assured that if students face any problem in their studies in future, he will stand firmly with them for their educational rights.

Finally, Mungantiwar again said that every graduate voter should cast a vote in the Nagpur graduates' constituency election on October 23, and take special care while voting that the vote is not invalid and is recorded correctly.
