Questions have been raised over the electoral roll ahead of the election to the Nagpur division graduates' constituency of the Legislative Council. It is being claimed that about 8,300 voters' names appear more than once in the list. This has led to fears of bogus voting in the election.

Registration of more than 2.5 lakh graduate voters has been reported for the Nagpur seat. Several political parties, including the Congress and the BJP, and independent candidates had run campaigns for voter registration. It is alleged that different workers submitted forms for the same voter more than once, and that this is how duplicate names entered the list.

Candidate Abhijeet Wanjari has expressed concern over so many repeated names. He has suggested that a colour code be placed against the names of voters who appear more than once in the list, so that such names can be identified easily.

Wanjari has also suggested that if a voter has already cast a vote at one polling station, the information should be passed immediately to the other polling stations concerned. According to him, this could help prevent the possibility of the same voter voting again.

There is no clear account in the available information of what steps the administration has so far taken on the duplicate names. The administration's official response to Wanjari's suggestion has also not yet come out.

Earlier, Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar had also raised questions over voter registration forms. He had alleged that many registration forms submitted by Congress workers were deliberately left out. There is no official confirmation of this allegation in the available information either.
