Elderly couple killed as Fortuner hits Activa near Salai Phata in Nagpur's Savner
A retired policeman and his wife died on the Nagpur-Pandhurna road on the day of his birthday, police said.

A Fortuner car and an Activa scooter collided head-on near Salai Phata in Savner tehsil of Nagpur district, killing the husband and wife riding the scooter. The victims were 65-year-old Domaji Chamadev Dhunde and his wife Pramila Domaji Dhunde.
The accident happened on Domaji Dhunde's birthday. The family had been preparing to celebrate, but the day ended in mourning.
According to the information available, the Fortuner, bearing registration number MH-31-FR-9561, was travelling from Nagpur towards Pandhurna. The Activa, registration number MH-40-DF-3287, was heading from Salai towards Nagpur. The two vehicles collided near Salai Phata, which falls under the Kelwad police station limits, on the Nagpur-Pandhurna road.
The impact was so severe that Domaji and Pramila Dhunde, who were on the Activa, were seriously injured.
On receiving news of the accident, a team of the Hitjyoti Aadhar Foundation, highway assistant police inspector Shrikant Koli and Kelwad police reached the spot. With the help of Hitesh Bansod, both injured were rushed to the government hospital in Savner, where doctors declared them dead after examination.
Both bodies have been sent for postmortem. Police are investigating the case, and the exact cause of the accident will be known only after the inquiry is complete.
Domaji Dhunde is said to have worked in the police department and was retired. The tragedy on his birthday has left the family in deep shock, and relatives and acquaintances are mourning the couple's death.
The accident at Salai Phata has once again raised serious questions about road safety. Kelwad police are currently looking into the circumstances of the crash.
