Nagpur: A man was chased and stabbed in a life-threatening attack near a badminton hall in KT Nagar, under the Gittikhadan police station limits. Waseem Akhtar Shaikh (43), a resident of Suraj Nagar, was seriously injured. He has been admitted to Mayo Hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical.
According to the information available, Shaikh was riding a moped with a companion when three accused on a two-wheeler followed them. Near the badminton hall in KT Nagar, the accused stopped Shaikh and attacked him with a knife. The sudden attack caused panic in the area.
Shaikh is said to run a shop near Suraj Nagar. The actual reason behind the attack is not yet clear. The police suspect that the assault may have been carried out because of an old enmity. It has also emerged that the attackers may be linked to the Jafar Nagar area, though this has not yet been officially confirmed.
The Gittikhadan police are searching for the unidentified attackers and are investigating various aspects of the case. The reasons for the attack and other details of the incident are expected to be disclosed only after the accused are arrested.
