Father and son seriously hurt in Akola property-dispute attack; corporator, aides on the run

A father and son were attacked in a life-threatening assault over a property dispute in the Akot Road area, under Akot Fail police station limits in Akola. Shaikh Yunus and his son Sameer Shaikh Yunus were seriously injured and are being treated in hospital.
A corporator is accused of carrying out the attack along with his associates.
According to the information available, Shaikh Yunus and Sameer had a dispute with the corporator over property in the Akot Road area. It began as a verbal argument but soon turned into a brawl. The corporator and his associates are alleged to have attacked the two men then.
The attackers are said to have beaten them with a pipe and stabbed them with a knife, leaving both father and son seriously injured.
Tension prevailed in the area for some time after the incident. Akot Fail police reached the spot on receiving information. The injured were rushed to hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
The corporator and his associates are said to have fled the spot after the attack. Police are investigating the background of the property dispute and the exact reason behind the assault.
In a separate incident in Pimple Gurav, a step-grandson allegedly killed his step-grandmother. It has emerged that he did so out of anger at not being given a share in the property.
The accused is Omkar Kisan Shingore (26), and the deceased is Mangal Baburao Shingore (65). Preliminary information is that the incident took place between 8.30 and 9 am on Friday (the 9th).
The Shingore family lived in a building next to Ganesh Sahakari Bank at Krishna Chowk in Pimple Gurav. The accused and his step-grandmother had a dispute over giving him a share of the property, and it is learnt that he killed her for this reason.
