Four men accused in a murder in Himachal Pradesh were detained in Jalgaon while on their way to Mumbai. Shanipeth police took them into custody. They are accused, and the allegations against them have not been proved.
The case concerns the killing of Mukesh Kumar of Himachal Pradesh, registered as FIR No. 82/2026 dated September 30, 2026. Himachal Pradesh police said, on the basis of preliminary information, that Mukesh Kumar and the accused were drinking together when an argument broke out, with abuse involving a sister. According to Himachal police, the accused then attacked and killed him.
Police said the accused left Kishanpur at about 11 am after the incident. They reached Ambala and boarded a Mumbai-bound express at 4.30 pm. On the way they ran out of money even for food, and got off at Jalgaon to sell a mobile phone and raise cash.
Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh police traced their location. They informed Dr Vishal Jaiswal, the police inspector in charge of Shanipeth police station, that the accused were in the Shanipeth area. Jaiswal immediately instructed the crime detection team, known in Marathi as the Gunhe Shodh Pathak, and a search began. The team tracked the men's movements and detained all four.
All four accused are from Bihar. Chandan Kumar and Roshan Gogal Mukhiya are said to be residents of Kutubpur, Sakra police station, Muzaffarpur district.
