Wardha district police have taken the growing use of narcotic substances seriously. Police say young people in particular appear to be falling prey to this dangerous addiction, which is affecting their health, their families and society as a whole. Drug use not only damages a person's physical and mental health but also encourages criminal tendencies. Against this background, the Anti-Narcotic Task Force, Wardha, organised a public awareness programme under the DRUGS FREE WARDHA campaign.

The programme was held on October 9, 2026 at Shri Krishnadas Jaju Rural Service College in Pipri (Wardha). Under the theme "Drugs Free Wardha", Wardha district police have prepared an NDPS Awareness video with the aim of building a safe future and a drug-free society. The video was screened at the programme. It was followed by a PPT presentation on the harmful consequences of narcotic substances.

Police Inspector Vinod Chaudhari explained the ill effects of narcotic substances to those present and made them aware of the dangers. Keeping the safety of the college's girl students in mind, a woman police personnel of the Damini Squad also gave guidance. The Cyber Cell, Wardha, provided information on cyber security. At the end of the programme, all those present sang the national song together, and the programme concluded.

The college students were given the message: "Quit drugs, build life, create a cultured society, make Wardha drug-free." On behalf of Wardha Police, all students were urged to stay away from narcotic substances so as to make Wardha city advanced, safe and strong.

The awareness programme was organised under the guidance of Wardha Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal and Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare. Those present included Police Inspector Vinod Chaudhari of the Local Crime Branch, Wardha; Sub-Inspector Sinukumar Banot of the Anti-Narcotic Task Force, Wardha; and task force police personnel. Teams from the Damini Squad, Wardha, and the Cyber Cell, Wardha, also attended. The college principal, all the professors and a large number of students took part in the programme.
