Deoli police issue 185 challans in life safety drive, levy Rs 4,10,750 in fines

A Jeevan Suraksha Abhiyan (life safety drive) was carried out in Deoli town of Wardha district on October 7, 2026. The drive is under way across the district on the orders and guidance of Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal and Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare.

In Deoli, the action was led under the guidance of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dr Vandana Karkhele. Assistant Police Inspector Sandeep Kapde, in charge of Deoli police station, Vijaykumar Ghule, in charge of the traffic control branch in Wardha, Sub-Inspector Gajbhiye and other personnel took part. Officers, staff and traffic personnel of Deoli police station also joined the drive.

The aim was to keep the town's traffic orderly, ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians, and prevent accidents. Vehicles parked at spots obstructing traffic on roads were acted against. Action was also taken against people driving without a licence, those letting minors drive, triple-seat riders, vehicles fitted with deafening silencers, those not carrying their licence and vehicles with fancy number plates. Drivers who broke traffic rules were booked under the Motor Vehicles Act.

In all, 185 challan cases were registered under the Motor Vehicles Act and fines totalling Rs 4,10,750 were imposed.

Deoli police station and Wardha's district traffic control branch also appealed to the people of Deoli. They said in particular that vehicles should not be parked on roads used by traffic. Vehicles should not be parked illegally in public places, on roads or in crowded areas, and should be left only in parking spaces. Minors should not be given vehicles to drive, and no one should drive without a licence. Two-wheeler riders should wear helmets on highways and four-wheeler drivers should wear seat belts. People should not ride triple seat or drive vehicles with deafening silencers.

Police said the action being taken under the Motor Vehicles Act is not meant to collect fines. Its purpose is to bring discipline among drivers and make travel safe for everyone. Public safety is being given first priority. The main aim of the Jeevan Suraksha Abhiyan is to protect children from accidents caused by driving without a licence and from the harm this can do to their future, and to safeguard lives.

The drive will be run effectively across the district. The Wardha district traffic police department has appealed to all residents of the district to follow traffic rules while driving. The instructions were given by Assistant Police Inspector Vijaykumar Ghule, in charge of the traffic control branch in Wardha.
