Hotel chef returning home late at night attacked in Nagpur, suffers fractured jaw

A hotel chef returning home from duty late at night in Nagpur was allegedly assaulted. Sudhanshu Uniyal, 27, was seriously injured in the incident in Panchdeep Nagar, under Sonegaon police station limits. He alleges that some men stopped him after an argument and beat him.

According to the complaint filed with the police, Uniyal works as a chef at the Radisson Blu hotel in the city. At about 12.10 am on September 28, 2026, he finished his shift at the hotel and set out for home on foot. On the road towards the Narendra Nagar bridge, some people were standing near a white Innova car. Uniyal got into an argument with them, which later escalated into a physical fight.

The complaint alleges that after this dispute two men reached Panchdeep Nagar on a motorcycle and stopped Uniyal. They then began beating him. According to the allegation, two more men arrived shortly afterwards and also allegedly joined in the assault. Everything happened suddenly, so the chef had no chance to defend himself, and he sustained injuries to his face and jaw.

The injuries were serious. His jaw was fractured on the left side, one tooth was broken and another became loose. He needed hospital treatment for the injuries to his face and mouth. The jaw fracture and damage to his teeth indicate how serious the injuries were. The incident involving an employee returning from work late at night is being discussed in the area.

Sonegaon police registered a case on September 29, 2026, on the victim's complaint. Police are now trying to establish what the dispute began over and what role each of those allegedly involved played in the assault. The sequence of events described in the complaint and the reasons behind the assault are also being investigated.
