Nagpur Crime Branch raids 17 cafes, 20 booked under BNS Section 223

Police teams searched 17 cafes and other establishments across Nagpur on Thursday, and cases were registered against 20 people for alleged violation of the Police Commissioner's order.

The Crime Branch has taken action against cafes, restaurants and other establishments in Nagpur city for alleged violation of rules. On Thursday, October 8, 2026, simultaneous raids were carried out in different parts of the city and action was taken against 17 cafes. Cases have been registered against a total of 20 people under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The Police Commissioner had issued a notification on October 6, 2026 under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The action was taken to enforce it. Different police teams inspected cafes, restaurants and other establishments in the city. Legal action was taken against the people concerned after the inspections allegedly found the orders had been violated.

Different Crime Branch teams searched cafes located in various parts of the city. The 17 establishments covered in the action included Partner's Cafe, Cafe O'Bliss, C3 Cafe Culture Club, Square Bucket Cafe, Cafe Bite's, Cafe.com, Cafe Elvora, Million Dollar Cafe, Two Chairs Cafe, Eat and Bite Cafe, Eagle Cafe and Restaurant, The KKs Cafe, Cafe Crew Wings, ToF Cafe, Cafe NES, Leopold Cafe and TCH Cafe.

According to the police, cases have been registered against a total of 20 people in the operation. The offences were registered under Section 223 of the BNS at different police stations.

The inspections followed the Police Commissioner's notification. The aim of the action, it was stated, is to ensure the orders issued are followed and that legal steps are taken against violators.

The respective police stations also took action in the drive, along with the Crime Branch teams. Further legal proceedings will continue in connection with the offences registered by the police.
