Father and son booked in Nagpur for Rs 28 lakh flat fraud and threats

Sonegaon police in Nagpur have registered a case against a father and son on charges of cheating and criminal intimidation after a complaint that more than Rs 28 lakh was taken from a woman on the promise of getting her a flat.

According to police, the complaint was filed by Nikita Rampal, who lives in the Shivkailash Township in Mihan. She said Ritesh Tiwari introduced himself as an agent of the property dealer Om Shivam Buildcon and promised to get her Flat No. 301.

Relying on that promise, a total of Rs 28.08 lakh was allegedly taken from her. After taking the money, the accused allegedly sold the same flat through the company to another person. It is also alleged that he used the money received from the complainant for his own benefit.

When the complainant learnt of this, she asked him to return her money. According to the complaint, when Rampal went to the accused's house to ask for the money, Ritesh Tiwari and his father, Harihar Tiwari, allegedly stopped her from going to the police. Both are also alleged to have threatened her with consequences if she filed a complaint.

On the basis of the complaint and a preliminary inquiry, Sonegaon police have registered a case against Ritesh Tiwari and Harihar Tiwari under sections relating to cheating and intimidation. Police are now looking into other aspects of the case, including the documents related to the transaction, the sale of the flat and the amount paid by the complainant.

The allegations are based on the complaint. None has been proved, and the police investigation is continuing.
