Liquor sales will remain completely shut in Chandrapur district on October 23, 2026. District Collector Vasumana Pant has issued the order in view of the election to the Nagpur division graduates' constituency.

According to the order, all liquor licences in the district will remain closed on polling day. These include country liquor, hotel and permit room licences. The administration said the decision was taken to maintain law and order.

The administration said the order was issued so that peace and law and order are maintained across the district on election day and there is no disturbance. The order clearly states that every kind of liquor sale is prohibited in Chandrapur district on October 23, and that all liquor shops and permit rooms in the district must stay shut.

The administration said that holding the election peacefully, fairly and without fear is its highest priority. It said the possibility of liquor being distributed just before the election, or of law-and-order problems arising from drinking, cannot be ruled out. The decision has been taken to prevent such disturbances and possible criminal activity.

The Collector's order specifies which licences will stay closed. These include all licences under Form CL-2 (sale of country liquor), CL-3, FL-1, FL-2/CL/FL/TOD-3, FL-3 (hotels and permit rooms), FL-4, FL/BR-2 and TOD-1. All of them will remain fully closed for the whole day on October 23. All licence holders concerned have been made bound to follow the rule without any laxity.

The administration has asked all licence holders and liquor sellers to take the order seriously. Anyone who breaks the rules and tries to sell liquor secretly will face strict legal action. The administration said the decision will help the Nagpur division graduates' constituency election be held in Chandrapur district in a disciplined, transparent and peaceful manner.
