The National Deworming Day campaign will be held in Chandrapur district on October 27, 2026. Preparations were made at a meeting of the district task force committee, chaired by District Collector Vasumana Pant. Chief Executive Officer Pulkit Singh, District Health Officer Dr Ashok Katare, Civil Surgeon Dr Bhaskar Sonarkar, Medical Officer Dr Nayna Uttarwar, Education Officer Ashwini Sonawane and District Maternal and Child Care Officer Dr Snehal Kasare were present.

Deworming tablets will be given to a total of 4,89,926 eligible beneficiaries aged 1 to 19. These include 3,55,995 in rural areas, 52,487 in urban areas and 81,444 in the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation area. The campaign will cover all 15 tehsils of the district and the municipal corporation area. Adolescent boys and girls will benefit along with children.

The campaign is meant to improve the health and nutrition of children, reduce worm infections and support their physical and intellectual development.

The tablets will be given through government, government-aided and private schools, ashram schools and colleges. They will also be given at anganwadi and mini anganwadi centres in rural and urban areas. The health, education and women and child development departments will work together to reach children who are out of school.

The full stock of 11,41,000 albendazole tablets needed for the campaign is available. Health workers (male and female), ASHA workers, anganwadi workers, teachers and staff of the departments concerned are to work together. Plans have been made to keep beneficiary lists updated, record entries of tablets taken, submit daily reports and give the tablet on the mop-up day to eligible children who were missed.

Eligible children who cannot take the tablet on October 27 will be given it on the mop-up day, November 3, 2026.

The health department's instructions say that the guidance of the health workers concerned should be followed while the tablet is given. The child should be given clean drinking water after taking the tablet. If a child feels nausea, vomiting, stomach ache or any other discomfort after the tablet, the health worker or medical officer concerned should be contacted. The medical officer's advice should be taken on giving the deworming tablet to sick children.

The health department has appealed to all parents, teachers, anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, health workers and departments concerned in the district to take an active part in the campaign, so that no eligible child is left without the deworming tablet.
