According to available information, at about 9:45 am on the day of the attack, Kota SP Tejaswini Gautam received a crucial input from the Mumbai Police Crime Branch. It said that some notorious accused were fleeing by train and heading towards Kota.
On receiving the information, Kota police acted without losing a moment. A blockade was set up at the railway station and the surrounding area. Within just 15 minutes, police had caught all the accused. The swift and precise action averted a major incident and foiled the accused's plans.
IPS officer Tejaswini Gautam, who led the operation, is a 2013-batch officer of the Rajasthan cadre. She is originally from Delhi and comes from an educated family.
On her education, she holds a BA (Honours) in political science from Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi. She has also studied LLB and completed an MA in public administration. She is said to have been a gold medallist at Delhi University during her student days.
