Police have arrested three suspects from Kota in Rajasthan in connection with the firing on actor Tiger Shroff's car in Mumbai. Police shared the information on Monday, October 19. A day earlier, attackers on a motorcycle had opened fire near Pushpa Park in Juhu, injuring the actor's driver and one other person.
The three suspects were reportedly caught in Kota after fleeing Mumbai. Police are now looking into their alleged role in the firing and how they escaped. In the early investigation, CCTV footage was examined, forensic evidence was collected and the motorcycle allegedly used in the attack was traced. The arrests are being seen as a major breakthrough in the probe.
The incident took place at around 7 pm on October 18. Shroff was returning after a football session when the attack happened near Pushpa Park in the Juhu area. Three men on a motorcycle allegedly fired at the actor's vehicle and fled. Shroff was not hit by a bullet, though reports say he suffered minor injuries from gunpowder and broken glass.
His driver, Firdaus, was injured and taken to Nanavati Hospital. An autorickshaw driver was also reported to have been hit by a bullet. After the driver was injured, Shroff himself reportedly took the wheel and drove the car to the hospital. Police have recorded the driver's statement.
Juhu police have registered a case against three unidentified people under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant sections of the Arms Act. Section 109(1) relates to attempt to murder, while Section 3(5) applies to a crime committed by several people with a common intention. The case has now been handed to the Mumbai Crime Branch. Mumbai Police had deployed 15 teams to trace the suspects and find the reason for the attack.
After the incident, a social media post appeared, attributed to people named Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu. It claimed responsibility for the attack in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The post also allegedly warned people in the film industry against working with Salman Khan. However, the gang's alleged role has not been firmly established in public. Investigating agencies are testing the claim against other evidence to find out what the motive was and whether the attack was linked to an organised criminal network.
Security outside Shroff's home has reportedly been increased after the incident. Arrangements around Salman Khan's house in Mumbai have also been tightened amid the threats made in the alleged social media post. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured Shroff and his family that police will investigate the case fully and action will be taken against those responsible.
With the three suspects held in Kota, the investigation will now focus on establishing the motive, connecting the sequence of events and confirming the alleged gang connection. This is an important step in the case, but the full story behind the firing is still under investigation.
