The Local Crime Branch (LCB) has taken action against illegal sand transport in Chandrapur. A 16-wheeler truck was carrying sand without a permit in the Ramnagar police station area. Police have seized the truck and the sand.

The LCB team in Chandrapur had received a tip-off that minor minerals were being transported illegally and stealthily in a large vehicle in the Ramnagar police station area. Acting on the information, police immediately laid a trap in the Ramnagar area and set up a blockade.

During the blockade, a large 16-wheeler truck was seen approaching in a suspicious manner. When police searched it, they found it loaded with sand, carried illegally and without a permit. Police then promptly seized both the vehicle and the sand.

Police have registered a case at Ramnagar police station against the truck driver, Navinkumar Mahabir Singh. He is 40 years old and a resident of Phulutola Tafarde in Purani Bazar tehsil of Madhepura district in Bihar. A case has also been registered against the truck owner, Wahid Zabir Sheikh, who is a resident of Umred in Umred tehsil of Nagpur district.

Police have taken legal action under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with various sections of the Maharashtra land revenue law and the motor vehicles law.

In the action, police seized a Mahindra 16-wheeler truck (number MH 40 CV 9333), an estimated 10 brass of sand and a used mobile phone. The total value of the seized goods has been put at Rs 40.70 lakh.

The action was carried out by the Local Crime Branch team of Rajura sub-division. Ramnagar police are conducting further investigation into the case.
