Two killed in clash between groups in Deulgaon Raja; police arrest 20 people
Two men died in a clash between two groups near the Bholeshah dargah in Deulgaon Raja on October 5, and cross-cases have been registered.
Two people were killed in a major clash between two groups near the Bholeshah dargah in Pratapnagar, Deulgaon Raja town, creating tension in the town. The incident took place at around 7.30 pm on October 5. Both groups have filed complaints against each other, and cross-cases have been registered at Deulgaon Raja police station. So far, 20 accused have been arrested in the two cases, and police are searching for the remaining accused.
The first complaint was filed by Shaikh Atik Shaikh Umar (33), a resident of Pratapnagar, Deulgaon Raja. According to police, the complaint alleges that the accused, Shaikh Aqib Shaikh Pashu, and others with him formed an unlawful assembly on the road armed with knives, wooden sticks and axes. It alleges that, acting on a conspiracy and as planned beforehand, they attacked the complainant's relatives inside and outside their home.
In the attack, the complainant's relative Asif alias Arif Haroon Pathan (35), a resident of Deulgaon Raja, was attacked with an axe and other sharp weapons. He died of his serious injuries. The complaint also says other relatives were seriously injured and threatened with death. A case has been registered at Deulgaon Raja police station as Crime No. 450/2026, and action has been taken under Sections 103(2), 109, 333, 61(2), 189(4), 189(5), 190, 191(1), 191(3), 118(1), 115(2), 352, 351(2) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Shaikh Mujahid Shaikh Ali (46), a resident of Hakim Colony, Deulgaon Raja, filed a complaint with police on behalf of the other group. According to him, at around 7.30 pm the same day, Shahrukh Khan Ahmed Khan and others acting on a conspiracy attacked the complainant and his brother on the same road with intent to kill them.
In the attack, the complainant's brother Shaikh Anwar alias Anu Shaikh Ali (42), a resident of Hakim Colony, Deulgaon Raja, was beaten with an iron rod, knives and sticks. He too died of his serious injuries. The complaint also alleges that the complainant and witnesses were abused, beaten and threatened with death. A case has been registered on this complaint as Crime No. 451/2026, under Sections 103(2), 61(2), 118(1), 189(2), 189(4), 189(5), 190, 191(1), 191(3), 115(2), 352, 351(2) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Considering the seriousness of the incident, Buldhana district Superintendent of Police Nilesh Tambe visited the spot and inspected it. He instructed the officers concerned to trace and arrest the accused and to maintain law and order in the town. Separate teams from Deulgaon Raja police station and the Local Crime Branch, Buldhana, have been formed to search for the accused. Together, the teams have arrested 20 accused in the two cases.
A riot control squad and a quick response team (QRT) have been deployed along with local police in sensitive areas of the town. Police said the situation is completely under control. Police Inspector Brahma Giri and Assistant Police Inspector Savita Kuware are conducting further investigation into both cases.
The district police have appealed to citizens to maintain peace. Police said people should not believe rumours and should not send messages on social media that could hurt sentiments or spread rumours. They also appealed to the public to inform the nearest police station immediately if they have any suspicious information or any information about the incident. Further action is being taken by Additional Superintendents of Police Amol Gaikwad and Piyush Jagtap, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Santosh Khade, Police Inspector Brahma Giri and the Deulgaon Raja police team.
