Two groups clash over cow smuggling suspicion in Nagpur; police book both sides
Police under Mankapur station have registered cases against both parties after a car owner was allegedly stopped and assaulted on suspicion of cattle smuggling.
Nagpur: Two groups clashed on suspicion of cow smuggling within the limits of Mankapur police station.
Shubham Shankar Jawade, a resident of Chandrapur, was taking a test drive of his Ertiga car after getting it repaired at Ayyub Hydraulics garage. A man identified as Syed Baba allegedly stopped the car. Baba is said to have begun questioning Shubham about smuggling cattle, and called in other associates as well.
The group then allegedly snatched the car keys and mobile phone while abusing him, and assaulted Shubham and his two friends. The car was also damaged with an iron rod.
On learning of the incident, Mankapur police reached the spot and brought the car to the police station. On questioning, it emerged that the car had been used for cow smuggling in Chandrapur. On this basis, the police have registered a case against both sides.
