The retreating monsoon has withdrawn from the state and rain has stopped in most areas. Temperatures are therefore rising and people are facing hot and humid weather. On October 10, light rain with cloudy skies is likely in some parts of the state, but there is no sign of heavy rain in most districts.

A yellow alert has been issued for some Konkan districts. Mainly dry weather is expected in the rest of Maharashtra. A region-wise account, covering Konkan, western Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha along with Mumbai, follows.

Rising temperatures in Konkan may cause discomfort from the heat. A yellow alert is in force for Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts, where the weather is expected to be hot and humid. People have been asked to take necessary precautions when stepping out in the sun. Drinking plenty of water and, where possible, avoiding going out in the harsh afternoon sun will help.

Light showers may fall at a few places in Sindhudurg district. In the Konkan division, the maximum temperature is expected to be 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 23 to 24 degrees Celsius.

No specific weather alert has been issued for Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik districts in North Maharashtra. Mainly dry weather is likely here. Temperatures may keep rising for the next four to five days as well. The maximum temperature in this division is expected to be around 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 20 degrees Celsius.

In western Maharashtra, the weather is likely to be mostly dry in Pune and Solapur districts. However, light showers may fall in parts of Kolhapur, Satara and Sangli districts and in the upper ghat areas. Thunder is possible at some places. Even so, rain is not expected everywhere in the division. The maximum temperature in this region may be around 32 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 22 degrees Celsius.

In Marathwada, farmers are worried about the lack of rain and rising temperatures. Concern is being expressed that the long dry spell in many areas could affect farming. On October 10, hot and dry weather is mainly expected in this division. There is no specific alert, and the maximum temperature is likely to be around 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 25 degrees Celsius.

Rain has taken a break over most of Vidarbha for several days. On October 10 there is no specific alert for this division either, and the weather is likely to be hot and dry. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 22 degrees Celsius.

Overall, hot and humid weather will prevail in Konkan on October 10, while light rain is possible in parts of Sindhudurg and western Maharashtra. North Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha are expected to stay mainly dry. In view of the rising temperatures, people should take care of their health, and farmers should plan farm work according to local rain forecasts.
