Nagpur man attacked with knife, stick and stones over feud after ex-wife remarried; one held

Nagpur: A murderous attack on Waseem Akhtar at KT Nagar, under Gittikhadan police station limits, was the result of a feud that followed his marriage to the former wife of another man, police said. Gittikhadan police have arrested Arman Khan, one of the accused. His associate Shahnawaz Yunus Khan and a minor are absconding.

On the night of October 9, Akhtar, 43, was passing near the KT Nagar ground when the accused attacked him. They struck him with a knife, a stick and stones and left him seriously injured. As KT Nagar is a peaceful locality, the attack caused alarm among residents of the area.

Gittikhadan police registered a case of attempt to murder and arrested Arman. Shahnawaz is the mastermind of the attack. He had divorced his first wife, who later married Akhtar. The two men have been at odds ever since. Police have learnt that the attack was carried out because of this feud.

Gittikhadan police are searching for Shahnawaz and his associates.
