A woman was attacked with a knife in the Itwari bhaji mandi area, which falls under Tehsil police station limits in Nagpur. The attack was allegedly carried out by her husband, who suspected her of infidelity. The woman is critically injured. The accused husband fled the spot after the incident and police are searching for him.

The incident reportedly took place around 1:45 am on October 2. The accused has been identified as Ankush Pintu Bagdi, 37. Ankush reportedly doubted the character of his wife, Shruti, and the couple often quarrelled over it.

On Friday night, too, the two had an argument over the same issue. It is alleged that as the quarrel escalated, Ankush pulled out a knife and attacked Shruti. The accused is said to have struck the woman about 30 to 40 times on her neck and other parts of her body.

Shruti's minor son and daughter were also in the room when this happened. After the attack, the accused left Shruti in a critical condition and fled.

Shruti's minor son then phoned his maternal grandfather, Dhruv Upadhyay, and told him everything. Family members reached the spot immediately and police were also informed. Tehsil police arrived and admitted the injured woman to Mayo Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment.

According to police, around 21 cases are already registered against the accused, Ankush Bagdi, including robbery, assault and extortion. Following this incident, Tehsil police have registered a case of attempt to murder against him.

Police teams are raiding his likely hideouts to catch the absconding accused. There is no information yet of his arrest.
