Maharashtra declares Trigger-1 drought conditions in 265 talukas, full list out

The state government has formally invoked Trigger-1 drought status in 265 of Maharashtra's 358 talukas over kharif rainfall deficit and crop damage.

The state government has taken a major decision in view of the rainfall deficit during the kharif season and the poor condition of standing crops in fields. Of the state's 358 talukas, drought-like conditions, that is Trigger-1 (the first stage), have been officially declared in 265 talukas. Full details of how many talukas in each district and division are on the list have come out.

In the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division, this status applies to 74 talukas in all. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district has 9 talukas on the list: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Kannad, Soygaon, Paithan, Vaijapur, Gangapur, Khuldabad, Sillod and Phulambri. Jalna district has 8: Badnapur, Ghansawangi, Ambad, Jalna, Partur, Mantha, Bhokardan and Jafrabad. Beed district has 11: Beed, Gevrai, Majalgaon, Kaij, Ambajogai, Parli, Ashti, Patoda, Shirur Kasar, Dharur and Wadwani. Latur district has 10: Latur, Ausa, Ahmedpur, Nilanga, Udgir, Chakur, Renapur, Shirur Anantpal, Devani and Jalkot. Dharashiv district has 8: Dharashiv, Kalamb, Bhum, Washi, Tuljapur, Lohara, Paranda and Umarga. Nanded district has 14: Nanded, Biloli, Kandhar, Loha, Hadgaon, Bhokar, Deglur, Kinwat, Himayatnagar, Mahur, Dharmabad, Umri, Ardhapur and Naigaon. Parbhani district has 9: Purna, Palam, Parbhani, Sonpeth, Jintur, Gangakhed, Selu, Manwat and Pathri. Hingoli district's 5 talukas, Hingoli, Aundha Nagnath, Kalamnuri, Sengaon and Vasmat, have also been placed under Trigger-1.

In the Amravati division, a total of 56 talukas have drought-like conditions. Buldhana district has 13: Jalgaon Jamod, Sangrampur, Chikhli, Deulgaon Raja, Mehkar, Buldhana, Sindkhed Raja, Lonar, Khamgaon, Shegaon, Malkapur, Motala and Nandura. Amravati district has 14: Amravati, Bhatukli, Chandur Railway, Nandgaon Khandeshwar, Dhamangaon Railway, Achalpur, Anjangaon Surji, Tiwsa, Dharni, Chikhaldara, Warud, Morshi, Chandur Bazar and Daryapur. Akola district has 7: Akot, Akola, Patur, Telhara, Murtizapur, Balapur and Barshitakli. Washim district has 6: Washim, Risod, Malegaon, Mangrulpir, Karanja and Manora. Yavatmal district's 16 talukas, Yavatmal, Babhulgaon, Kalamb, Darwha, Digras, Arni, Ner, Pusad, Umarkhed, Mahagaon, Vani, Maregaon, Zari-Jamani, Kelapur, Ghatanji and Ralegaon, have also been included under Trigger-1.

In the Nashik division, 49 talukas have this status. Nashik district has 10: Malegaon, Baglan, Kalwan, Nandgaon, Surgana, Igatpuri, Peth, Sinnar, Yeola and Deola. Dhule district has 4: Dhule, Sakri, Shindkheda and Shirpur. Jalgaon district has 15: Erandol, Parola, Dharangaon, Chopda, Pachora, Jamner, Jalgaon, Bhadgaon, Amalner, Raver, Chalisgaon, Bhusawal, Bodwad, Muktainagar and Yawal. Nandurbar district has 6: Akkalkuwa, Shahada, Nandurbar, Navapur, Taloda and Akrani. Ahilyanagar district has 14: Nagar, Parner, Shrigonda, Karjat, Jamkhed, Shevgaon, Pathardi, Newasa, Rahuri, Sangamner, Akole, Kopargaon, Shrirampur and Rahata.

In the Nagpur division, 39 talukas have drought-like conditions. Wardha district has 7: Wardha, Selu, Deoli, Arvi, Samudrapur, Hinganghat and Ashti. Nagpur district has 14: Nagpur, Kamptee, Saoner, Parshivani, Mouda, Bhiwapur, Kalmeshwar, Katol, Ramtek, Hingna, Umred, Kuhi, Narkhed and Nagpur City. Bhandara district has 3: Bhandara, Pauni and Lakhandur. Gondia district has 1: Tirora. Chandrapur district has 12: Chandrapur, Bhadravati, Gondpipri, Rajura, Korpana, Mul, Warora, Sawali, Chimur, Nagbhid, Sindewahi and Pombhurna. Gadchiroli district's 2 talukas, Gadchiroli and Chamorshi, have also been placed on the list.

In the Pune division, this status applies to 35 talukas. Pune district has 8: Bhor, Velhe, Khed, Shirur, Baramati, Indapur, Daund and Purandar. Solapur district has 11: North Solapur, South Solapur, Barshi, Akkalkot, Mohol, Madha, Karmala, Pandharpur, Sangola, Malshiras and Mangalvedha. Sangli district has 4: Miraj, Atpadi, Jat and Kavathe Mahankal. Satara district has 6: Satara, Khatav, Man, Phaltan, Khandala and Mahabaleshwar. Kolhapur district's 6 talukas, Panhala, Radhanagari, Gaganbawada, Bhudargad, Ajra and Chandgad, have also been placed under Trigger-1.

In the Thane division, drought-like conditions, the first stage, have been declared in 12 talukas in all. These include Shrivardhan taluka in Raigad district, 3 talukas in Ratnagiri district, Ratnagiri, Sangameshwar and Rajapur, and 8 talukas in Sindhudurg district, Sawantwadi, Dodamarg, Kankavli, Kudal, Vaibhavwadi, Malvan, Devgad and Vengurla. No taluka in Thane or Palghar district has been placed under the first stage.

The concerned district collectors have been directed to immediately begin the panchnama process in these 265 talukas. Crop loss assistance for drought-hit farmers will be announced through a separate government decision once the prescribed process is completed.
