As September draws to a close, Maharashtra's rainfall picture remains a cause for concern. Many parts of the state have not received adequate rain so far. There is light to moderate drizzle in some places, but heavy rain continues to be lacking, adding to the worries of farmers and residents. Around 265 talukas in the state have recorded drought conditions under Trigger-1. Amid this, all eyes are on the weather from Konkan to Vidarbha on September 28.

Cloudy skies are expected over most of Konkan today. Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts may see light to moderate rain in some places. However, no district has been given a rain alert for September 28. On September 29, Raigad and Ratnagiri will be under a yellow alert, with light to moderate rain possible in some areas.

In western Maharashtra, weather could change in the Pune, Satara, Kolhapur and Sangli areas. A yellow alert has been issued for some areas including the Pune ghat region, Kolhapur ghat region and Satara ghat region, where winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour may blow. Light to moderate rain with thunder is also possible in some places. The yellow alert will remain in place across most of western Maharashtra on September 29 as well.

In north Maharashtra, light to moderate rain is likely in some parts of Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik districts, but weather is expected to remain dry in many areas. This means the chances of heavy rain in north Maharashtra are also low. A yellow alert has been issued for the Nashik ghat region for September 29.

In Marathwada, weather is likely to remain mostly dry in Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli and Nanded. Latur and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar districts may see light rain with thunder. A yellow alert has been issued for Beed and Dharashiv, where winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour are likely.

In most parts of Vidarbha, the wait for rain looks set to continue. Clouds may gather in some places, but no heavy rain is forecast. This continuing shortfall has added to the worries of farmers and kharif crops.

Overall, while weather is changing in some parts of Maharashtra, the state as a whole has not yet seen strong rain. A yellow alert has been issued for the ghat region and around eight surrounding districts. Other areas may see light rain with thunder in some places. The next three days are being seen as important in determining whether the rain intensifies, and farmers and residents are watching closely.

According to the 10-day temperature forecast, the maximum temperature on Tuesday, September 29 will be 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum 28 degrees Celsius. On Wednesday, September 30, the maximum will be 35 and the minimum 27 degrees Celsius. On Thursday and Friday, the maximum will be 36 and the minimum 28 degrees Celsius. On Saturday, the maximum will be 36 and the minimum 27 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, the maximum will be 35 and the minimum 27 degrees Celsius.
