Chandrapur collector urges parents to complete children's Aadhaar MBU, 27,000 to be done at school camps
District Collector Vasumana Pant has appealed to parents to get their children's mandatory biometric update done on time, with 27,000 pending cases planned for school camps.
Chandrapur District Collector Vasumana Pant has appealed to parents to get their children's Aadhaar MBU updated on time. Of the MBU updates pending in the district, 27,000 are planned to be completed through special camps to be held in schools.
MBU stands for Mandatory Biometric Update. The first MBU is required when a child turns 5, and it has to be done again when the child turns 15. The update records fingerprints, an iris scan and a new photograph.
The administration said that failure to update could cause problems with Aadhaar-linked services. Pant has said that if the MBU is not done on time, the Aadhaar card could even be cancelled. Children aged 5 to 17 should therefore get their Aadhaar cards updated as soon as possible.
The Aadhaar number is very important for young children. It is used for school admission, scholarships, school registration and while availing the benefits of various schemes. Parents should therefore keep their child's details updated from time to time, in addition to getting the Aadhaar card made. To ensure there is no obstacle to the children's further education and government work, the MBU should be completed in time with due care.
Pant has appealed to parents to make use of these camps in schools and get their children's MBU done. If a child's MBU is still pending after that, they can visit the nearest authorised Aadhaar centre and complete the process.
Parents should check the current status of the child's Aadhaar through authorised Aadhaar services. If an MBU is pending, they can visit the concerned Aadhaar centre to confirm whether an update is needed. After checking the status, the MBU should be completed immediately if required. It is also important to keep checking the Aadhaar status and the need for an MBU from time to time.
The district administration also said that before using a child's Aadhaar, parents should make sure its status is active.
