Four killed, three critically hurt as dumper hits car on Luxar Road in Muzaffarnagar
Four people died and three were seriously injured when an oncoming dumper truck hit a speeding car on Monday night in Muzaffarnagar district.
Four people were killed and three seriously injured in a major road accident on Monday night within the limits of Purkazi police station in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district. An oncoming dumper truck rammed a speeding car on Luxar Road. The car was completely crushed and panic spread at the spot.
The accident took place at about 10.15 pm. Seven people were in the car. The impact was so severe that the car was badly mangled and the occupants were trapped inside.
Adesh Kumar, who was driving the car, and Nisha died on the spot. Local police reached the site soon after being informed. Police used a hydra machine to pull out those trapped in the car. All the injured were quickly admitted to a nearby hospital during the rescue.
Two more of the injured died during treatment, taking the toll to four. Three people are being treated at the hospital and their condition is reported to be critical. Fears have been raised that the toll could rise.
On learning of the accident, Muzaffarnagar Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Verma, SP City Amrit Jain, SP Traffic Atul Kumar Chaubey and Circle Officer Sunil Kumar reached the spot and inspected it. The officers reviewed the rescue work and directed those concerned to ensure the injured received immediate treatment.
Police have seized the dumper and detained its driver. They are investigating the cause of the accident, the speed of the vehicles and whether the driver was at fault. The families of the deceased are in mourning, and a pall of gloom hangs over the area.
