Woman seriously injured in tiger attack while returning from field in Gondpipri taluka
A woman returning home with her bullocks from a field at Somanpalli was attacked by a tiger on Monday evening and is being treated at the Gondpipri rural hospital.
Fear has gripped the fields of Somanpalli in Gondpipri taluka after a tiger attack. On Monday evening, a tiger suddenly attacked Rosa Shivmohan Urade as she was returning home with her bullocks after finishing work in the field. She has been seriously injured and is being treated at the Gondpipri rural hospital.
The incident took place in the Somanpalli area adjoining the Dhaba forest range check post. According to the information available, Urade had set out for home in the evening with her bullocks after finishing her daily work in the field. A tiger lying in wait on the field bund then pounced on her and the bullocks.
The bullocks were badly frightened by the sudden appearance of the tiger and ran in different directions. In the confusion, the tiger attacked Urade and injured her.
The tiger also tried to drag away one of the bullocks, but the bullocks fled the spot and the attempt failed. The incident has caused considerable panic in Somanpalli and the surrounding area.
On learning of the attack, Forest Department staff reached the Gondpipri rural hospital. Forest staff, including Beat Assistant M. D. Pendor, forest guards S. G. Nagare, Soni Marmurivar and Bhivapure, and Gondpipri forest guard S. G. Jharkhande, enquired after the injured woman. They have also begun the process of drawing up a panchnama of the incident.
The movement of wild animals, especially tigers, has increased considerably in the fields of Dhaba and Gondpipri talukas. This has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of farm labourers and farmers. Local villagers have sharply demanded that the Forest Department not stop at a panchnama, but deal with man-eating or violent wild animals and take firm steps to prevent such incidents.
