The election of the Gokul milk union, considered a matter of prestige in Kolhapur politics, is in the news over a new dispute. The result on one seat changed after a recount, and the political atmosphere has heated up. MLA Rohit Pawar has alleged misuse of power in the matter.
The whole state was watching the counting for the 25 seats of the union. In the early trends, the panel of Satej Patil had taken the lead. However, the picture changed after votes on one seat were recounted, according to available information.
In the recount, Sachin Ghorpade of Satej Patil's panel was defeated, while Amar Patil of the Mahayuti was reported to have won. As a result, the seats of the Rajarshi Shahu Shetkari Samvichari Aghadi led by Satej Patil came down to 13, while the Mahayuti got 12 seats.
Rohit Pawar put forth his stand in a post on the social media platform X. He alleged that moves are under way to obtain the desired result through misuse of power, even though the verdict of the election was clear.
Pawar wrote in the post that the verdict of the Gokul milk union's ballot paper election is clear. He said he now understands that the real misuse of power has begun. He claimed that strings are being pulled to overturn the result through a recount, without giving certificates to the elected candidates.
Pawar warned that if an attempt is made to steal the result, they will have to face the honest members. In the post he said they would not let the leaders or their hangers-on step out of their homes. In the post he tagged @INCMaharashtra, @satejp and @ruturajdyp and used the hashtags #GollulElection2026 and #गोकुळ. The post is dated October 19, 2026.
According to available information, discussion on the next legal steps has begun after three Mahayuti candidates applied for a recount. It is also said that legal advice is being taken on what steps can be taken further if the result changes.
According to the figures, Satej Patil's Samvichari Aghadi has 13 seats and the Mahayuti 12. The picture is therefore that the Aghadi has the required numbers. However, everyone is waiting for the next official decisions on the recount and the result.
With the political equations liable to change on the margin of one seat, the dispute appears set to escalate further. It will be important to see what stand the election machinery and the parties concerned take on Rohit Pawar's allegations.
