Gokul Milk Union polls: Satej Patil-led panel wins 13 seats, Mahayuti 12
The Rajarshi Shahu Shetkari Samvichari Aghadi led by Satej Patil won 13 of the 25 seats in the Gokul Milk Union election, and the Mahayuti won 12.

The Gokul Milk Union election is considered highly important in Kolhapur politics. This year's contest was keenly fought, with a direct fight between the Rajarshi Shahu Shetkari Samvichari Aghadi, led by Satej alias Bunty Patil, and the Mahayuti. The Samvichari Aghadi won 13 seats, while the Mahayuti got 12. The fight was for 25 seats in all, and both sides put up a tough contest in the battle for control of Gokul.
The whole state was watching the election. Major political leaders of Kolhapur district had mounted a strong campaign, and there was curiosity over who would win. With the Samvichari Aghadi's claim of 13 seats now out, the performance of the Satej Patil camp has become a talking point.

In the general category, the Satej Patil camp's winners were Abhijit Prabhakar Tayshete, Shashikant Anandrao Patil Chuyekar, Kisan Bapuso Chougale, Babasaheb Shripati Chougale, Rahul Bajrang Desai, Vidyadhar Baburao Gurbe, Babasaheb Vishnu Devkar and Vishwajeet Dinkarrao Jadhav. In the same category, the Mahayuti's winners were Rahul Pandurang Patil, Chetan Arun Narke, Ajit Shashikant Narke, Ambrishsinh Sanjay Ghatge, Virendra Sanjay Mandlik, Madan Baburao Desai, Rajesh Narsingrao Patil, Ranjitsinh DilIprao Patil, Ranjitsinh Krishnarao Patil, Ajit Pandurang Patil, Karnsinh Gaikwad and Amar Patil (Kodoli).
Both seats reserved for women went to the Satej Patil camp, won by Anjana Kedari Redekar and Bhagyashree Dhiraj Dongle. Shashikant Shamrao Khot from the Other Backward Classes category, Raju Baba Awale from the Scheduled Castes category and Bayaji Shelke from the nomadic and denotified tribes category also won on the Satej Patil camp's side.
The Gokul Milk Union election is seen as more than a matter of one cooperative body, as it also carries weight in Kolhapur politics. The result is therefore being read for its political meaning. With the Samvichari Aghadi's 13 seats, its supporters are believed to be jubilant.
On the other side, the Mahayuti also won 12 seats, which shows how close the contest was. With only one seat separating the two, attention now turns to the political equations in Gokul.
