Three young men were killed on the spot when a Cruiser and a two-wheeler collided head-on in the Kalkuhi area on the Kondhali-Katol road. The accident took place around midnight on Saturday, the 17th. One of the dead, Lokesh Jagdish Barange, had been married only three months. The three had gone to seek the blessings of the goddess and were returning when the accident occurred.

The deceased are Deepanshu Damodar Chafle (25), Roshan Maroti Chafle (25) and Lokesh Jagdish Barange (25). All three had travelled to Katol on a single two-wheeler to visit a temple of the goddess. After the visit they were returning towards Kondhali when a Cruiser hit their bike hard in the Kalkuhi area. All three fell onto the road and died at the spot.

According to the information available, the Cruiser was carrying devotees from Mohgaon from the Kondhali side towards the Katol-Parasingha area to visit the goddess.

Barange had married three months ago, and his wife is devastated by his death. He had left with friends to visit the temple and did not return home. When his body reached the house, grief spread through the family. Roshan Chafle was married and has a son and a daughter. Deepanshu Chafle was unmarried.

The three were originally from Karanja Ghadge in Wardha district. They lived on rent in the Vikasnagar area of Kondhali and worked as labourers in a private company.

According to the information, the Cruiser driver drove off towards Katol without helping the injured. Zubair Sheikh and Sagar Bharsakale, who were returning to Kondhali by bike from work, saw the accident and rushed to help. They informed social worker Sanjay Gaikwad and Kondhali police. On receiving the information, Kondhali police station in-charge Sumit Partaki and Gaikwad reached the spot with an ambulance, but by then all three youths had died. The bodies were sent to the Katol rural hospital for post-mortem.

Kondhali police registered a case and arrested the Cruiser driver, Hemraj Ganpat Uike. Police station in-charge Sumit Partaki is conducting further investigation.

What caused the Cruiser to hit the bike is not yet clear. Police are looking into whether the driver had dozed off or whether there was some other reason behind the accident. The actual cause will emerge only after the investigation.
