Painter, 21, arrested in Nagpur for molesting 13-year-old girl in bungalow washroom
Manakapur police arrested a 21-year-old painter accused of entering a washroom and molesting a 13-year-old girl at a Nagpur bungalow.
A case of molestation of a 13-year-old minor girl has come to light in the Manakapur police station area of Nagpur. A 21-year-old painter working at a bungalow in Little Paradise, Rangdatta Society, is accused of entering the girl's washroom and behaving obscenely with her. Manakapur police acted on a complaint and arrested the accused.
According to police, the girl's father has worked as a security guard at a bungalow for the past three years. After the bungalow's owner sold the house, the family moved to a rented house nearby. The family, however, continued to visit the bungalow.
On October 17, the girl went to the bungalow with her 10-year-old brother to look after the pet dog. Painting work was under way at the bungalow at the time, and painters were present.
It is said that while at the bungalow, the girl went into the washroom and began to bolt the door from inside. The accused, who was working there, allegedly pushed the door open with force and entered.
The allegation is that the accused caught the girl's hand and asked her for her mobile number and Instagram ID. He then began to molest her. The minor girl was frightened by the sudden incident.
Scared by his behaviour, the girl gathered courage and began to scream loudly. She also called out to her 10-year-old brother, who had come with her. Hearing her cries, the accused panicked and ran away.
After the incident, the girl and her family complained to the police. Taking serious note of the incident, Manakapur police registered a case and began an investigation.
Police have arrested Afsar Ali Shabbir Siddiqui (21), a resident of Raza Town, in the case. He is accused of molesting the 13-year-old girl. Police are investigating further.
The incident again shows the need to remain alert about children's safety. When construction, repair or painting work is under way in homes and bungalows, attention must be paid to the safety of children. Any suspicious or objectionable behaviour should be reported to the police immediately so that timely action can be taken.
