A case has been registered at Shegaon Bu. police station over an assault near Ashoka Bar. The complaint says a young man was beaten up in front of the gate of the bar at Gujgavhan. The injured man has been identified as Shyamsundar Gaikwad, a resident of Khangaon in Chimur taluka, and he is being treated at AIIMS Nagpur. According to the complaint, the incident took place on October 4.

On the complaint of the injured man's father, Shalik Champat Gaikwad (62), a case has been registered against Roshan Kamdi (28) of Neri under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Sub-inspector Sumit Kamble is investigating the case.

According to police sources, Shyamsundar had gone to Nimdhela on the morning of October 4, 2026, for a funeral-related gathering. At around 5 pm the same day, Pancham Ramteke and Sadip Naitam brought him home to Khangaon on a two-wheeler. At the time he had serious injuries to his head, face and a toe. The two left after saying he had met with an accident.

The family quickly arranged a four-wheeler and took him first to Warora and then to the government hospital in Chandrapur for treatment. As his condition was extremely critical, he was admitted to AIIMS Nagpur on the advice of doctors. He remains unconscious and is undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, Shalik Gaikwad returned to the village on October 6. On the evening of October 7, an eyewitness, Akash Patil, narrated what had actually happened, police sources said. According to this account, at around 4 pm on October 4, Roshan Kamdi (28), a resident of Neri, got into a heated quarrel with Shyamsundar near the gate of Ashoka Bar at Gujgavhan. The accused is said to have grabbed Shyamsundar by the collar and the scruff of his shirt and beaten him severely. Shyamsundar then went away to a hut in the fields, while the accused, Roshan Kamdi, was standing nearby.

The information says that although Shyamsundar was taken home on the pretext of an accident, it has emerged that the accused had carried out the brutal beating with the intention of killing him, over an old quarrel.

Following this information, the injured man's father, Shalik Gaikwad, went to Shegaon Bu. police station on October 8 and lodged an oral complaint. On his complaint, police registered a case against the accused, Roshan Kamdi, and Sub-inspector Sumit Kamble is conducting a further detailed investigation.
