Automaker Volkswagen has unveiled its new electric SUV, the ID. Tiguan, for the European market. It is being seen as the next generation of the company's popular ID.4 and ID.5 models. The vehicle will officially arrive in the global market by 2027.

The SUV's design is based on the company's "Pure Positive" design language. It has been given the look of a proper SUV rather than a crossover.

It comes with a choice of two battery packs, 58 kWh and 77 kWh. The smaller pack delivers 190 hp with a rear-mounted motor. The larger 77 kWh pack produces 286 hp in the rear-wheel drive (RWD) layout and 299 hp in the all-wheel drive (AWD) layout. The company claims the motor delivers a WLTP range of up to 600 km on a single charge. It also has a towing capacity of up to 2 tonnes.

On the outside, it has LED headlights, connected LED daytime running lights and an illuminated logo with black trim. Air curtains at the edges of the front bumper, fog lamps below and aero-optimised alloy wheels give it a sportier look. At the rear are wraparound LED tail-lamps, along with 534 litres of boot space and a 32-litre front trunk.

The cabin has an all-black theme with silver accents. The main attraction is a triple-screen setup, comprising a 15-inch infotainment system, a 10-inch digital driver display and a 12-inch passenger screen.

For passenger comfort and safety, the SUV gets an ADAS safety suite. It also offers powered front seats with memory, massage and ventilation functions, a Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability.

On charging, the electric SUV is likely to use modern charging technology. The company has provided fast-charging support, which should help the battery charge in less time. With the V2L feature, occupants will also be able to charge other electronic devices and gadgets easily.
