Skoda has launched the facelift of its popular sedan, the Slavia, in the Indian market. The new model starts at an ex-showroom price of Rs 9.99 lakh.
Deliveries will begin from next week. The new Slavia is now available in six variants: Classic, Classic+, Signature, Sportline, Prestige and Monte Carlo.
The 1.0L TSI petrol engine is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. A new 8-speed torque converter automatic has now been added alongside.
The 8-speed automatic gearbox, which comes with the 1.0L TSI engine, is the biggest change in the new model. The option is available from the Classic+ variant onwards, with prices starting at Rs 12.49 lakh.
The 1.5L TSI engine is offered only in the Prestige and Monte Carlo variants, and only with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. It produces 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque, while the 1.0L TSI engine delivers 115 PS and 178 Nm.
In the cabin, the Prestige variant gets a premium touch. It has electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, along with a rear seat massage function, described as special in this segment.
The Prestige also gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit, a 360-degree camera and 16-inch Savio dual-tone alloy wheels.
The Signature variant has a 25.6 cm screen, an AI Assistant based on Google Cloud, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The exterior has also been revised. The facelifted Slavia gets new LED headlamps, updated tail-lamps, sequential rear indicators and reworked front and rear sections. The grille has a horizontal chrome strip, and there are new alloy wheel designs.
Two new colour options, Arctic Silver and Cappuccino Beige, have been added.
For safety, more than 25 safety features, including 6 airbags, are standard, while the top variant gets more than 40. The Slavia retains its 5-star Global NCAP safety rating as before.
