Anger among Congress workers over the arrest of Rahul Gandhi spilled onto the streets of Nagpur late at night. Workers tried to enter the BJP office in Ganeshpeth, causing tension across the area.
According to available information, BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule had allegedly challenged the Congress a few days earlier. He had said, "If you have the courage, enter the RSS office or the BJP office and show us." Following this statement, a large number of Congress workers reached the BJP office in Ganeshpeth late at night.
The workers tried to go inside the office. Police were present at the spot and detained the protesting workers to prevent the situation from worsening. The police action further angered the Congress workers.
To protest the detention of the Congress workers, members of the BJP Yuva Morcha reached the Ganeshpeth police station and demonstrated there. During the protest, some workers also entered the police station. Police then put additional security arrangements in place to keep the situation under control.
Tension persisted in the Ganeshpeth area till late at night as people from both sides came face to face. To avoid any untoward incident, police stepped up security in the area.

The protest against Rahul Gandhi's arrest first turned into an attempt to enter the BJP office and then escalated to a siege of the police station. The incidents have once again brought the political clash between the Congress and the BJP in Nagpur into focus.
Police are monitoring the situation, and security arrangements remain in place to keep it under control.
