Police seize arms and explosives cache hidden by Maoists in Gadchiroli forest
A special operation in Kopershi forest on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border recovered six firearms, detonators and BGL shells buried underground.

Nagpur. Police in Gadchiroli have scored a major success against Maoist activities, recovering a cache of arms and explosive material that Maoists had hidden underground in the Kopershi forest, which borders Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
The operation was carried out by the police's Special Operations Squad. A large quantity of material was seized, including six firearms in all.
Acting on secret information, Gadchiroli Police launched a special search operation in the Kopershi forest on October 6. Five teams of the Special Operations Squad from Pranahita and two BDDS teams entered the forest under the guidance of Superintendent of Police M. Ramesh.
Police cordoned off the forest on all sides and conducted a thorough search. Weapons and Maoist material hidden in the ground were found during the search.
The six firearms seized include one .303 rifle, two single-shot rifles, two country-made pistols and one BGL launcher. Police also recovered 21 live cartridges, 7 detonators and 10 BGL shells. About 150 metres of cable wire was also seized.
Police also took possession of two magazines, two pressure cookers, three wireless sets, three chargers and two wireless batteries from the spot.
The remaining material found was destroyed on the spot under the guidance of senior officers.
