Investors are showing great enthusiasm for the mega IPO of Jio Platforms, the digital arm of Reliance Industries (RIL), and the issue is being talked about even before it reaches the market. The company has not yet announced a price band, and the official launch date has not been fixed. Even so, demand for the shares in the grey market is considerably high.

On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, the GMP (grey market premium) of Jio Platforms rose to Rs 170. This shows how eager investors are to get the shares.

Looking at the movement, the shares began trading in the unlisted market at a premium of Rs 120 to Rs 125. A few days later they were trading at a premium of Rs 140 to Rs 145. One or two days ago they climbed to about Rs 160 to Rs 167, and they are now trading in the Rs 170 range.

The issue is being described as the country's largest IPO. The company is reported to be planning to raise Rs 32,000 crore by issuing about 270 million new shares. It is also said that the price band could be between Rs 1,300 and Rs 1,450. However, none of this has been officially confirmed so far.

According to estimates by global investment bankers, the company's valuation is about Rs 170 billion, which is more than Rs 11 lakh crore. If Jio lists at this valuation, it will rank among the country's two or three most valuable companies.

The question now is when the IPO will open. The mega IPO is said to be launching this month, October 2026. It is reported to open on October 19, 2026 for large institutional investors, while retail investors will be able to bid between October 21 and 23.

The company is expected to file its red herring prospectus (RHP) with SEBI in the week beginning October 12, 2026. The shares are likely to be listed on October 28, 2026, after the IPO.

Investment in the market is subject to risk. Investors should always consult experts before putting in money.
