Hyundai's new-generation Tucson SUV has drawn a strong response in South Korea. Official bookings opened on October 22, 2026, and 15,045 bookings were recorded on the first day.
The previous-generation Tucson received 10,842 bookings on its first day in September 2020. The new model received 4,203 more, a rise of about 39 per cent.
The long-wheelbase version of the new Tucson is 4,700 mm long, 1,905 mm wide and 1,685 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,785 mm. Compared with the previous model, the length is up by 60 mm, the width by 40 mm and the wheelbase by 30 mm. The rear doors now open up to 83 degrees and second-row headroom has been increased by 29 mm, so rear-seat passengers are expected to get more comfort.
Select variants have a 17-inch Pleos Connect screen. Other features include a dual wireless charger, Digital Key 2, a head-up display, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and a panoramic sunroof. The top variant also gets a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
In South Korea, the petrol variant starts at KRW 31.4 million, or about Rs 22.47 lakh. The hybrid variant costs KRW 36.15 million after tax benefits, or about Rs 26.12 lakh. The petrol engine comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, while the hybrid has a 6-speed automatic.
For safety, the Tucson has nine airbags as standard, along with features such as lane assist, automatic emergency braking, smart cruise control and highway driving assist. The top variant also gets HTRAC all-wheel drive and memory reverse assist. The system remembers the path the vehicle took into a parking space and helps it back out along the same path.
The new Tucson reflects Hyundai's "Art of Steel" design philosophy. The SUV has so far been introduced only in South Korea. The company has made no official announcement on an India launch, so the launch date and likely price in India are not yet fixed. The prices above are for South Korea only.
