The makers of Namit Malhotra's Ramayana have released posters of two more characters from the film. Lara Dutta is seen as Queen Kaikeyi and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara. The posters introduce audiences to two key characters of the epic.
The posters offer a glimpse of the turn in the story that changed everything. Kaikeyi's two boons were to change the course of the lives of King Dasharatha and Lord Rama. Manthara's poisoning of Kaikeyi's mind was to influence the Queen's decisions. These events were to change the future of the entire kingdom.
The makers had earlier released a poster of Arun Govil as King Dasharatha. With the two new posters, two more important characters have been added to the cast of the epic, which is being made in two parts. Govil, who earned a special place in the hearts of several generations by playing Lord Rama on television, will now appear before audiences once again as the king of Ayodhya in this world of Ramayana.
Dutta's Kaikeyi is presented in a regal style. Her traditional attire and jewellery reflect the grandeur of the Queen of Ayodhya. Chaddha's Manthara, on the other hand, looks distinctly different. In her poster, she is seen holding a stick.
Sharing the posters on social media, the makers wrote: "A queen. A mother. Two boons that were to change Shri Ram's destiny forever, defying a father's love. A scheming mind. Whose poisoning of the mind was to turn a mother's love into the darkest moment of the entire kingdom. Lara Dutta as Queen Kaikeyi. Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara."
The character posters give audiences their first look at both Kaikeyi and Manthara. The words accompanying the posters hint at how decisive the two will be in the events that shape Shri Ram's journey in life. In Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ranbir Kapoor will play Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi Sita, Rocking Star Yash Ravana, Sunny Deol Hanuman and Ravi Dubey Lakshmana.
The film, from Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios, is being produced with eight-time Oscar winner DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. Ramayana is being made as a grand epic in two parts.
The first part will release in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026, while the second will reach audiences at Diwali 2027. The film will release across India in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Ramayana will also be released in the IMAX format. Sony Pictures will handle distribution in the rest of the world outside India, while Dharma Productions will distribute it in the Hindi-speaking market.
