Former BJP MLA from Nagpur Girish Vyas has withdrawn his resignation from the party's primary membership. Announcing the withdrawal on October 13, he said that while running the organisation, the party leadership often has to take unpleasant decisions, and that this does not mean the decision-making process has become autocratic.
On October 9, Vyas had alleged that the organisation's procedure was not followed in deciding Sudhakar Kohle's candidature for the Legislative Council election, the Nagpur Graduates' constituency election 2026. He had said the candidate was announced before the candidate had been chosen. He then also resigned from the party's primary membership.
Vyas withdrew the resignation after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis mediated. His language about the party leadership at the time of withdrawal was different from that of October 9. Vyas said the party leadership heard him out the previous day and accepted what he said. The leadership has now told him to get to work, and accordingly he has started working on the election.
According to Vyas, there was a lack of communication in the party and a lack of efforts to take workers into confidence. He said, "We had used the word autocracy for the decision-making process, but it must also be accepted that while running the organisation, the party leadership sometimes has to take unpleasant decisions."
On his complaint, Vyas said, "I told the party leadership what was on my mind. I had not asked for anything for myself. My complaint was that there is no communication in the party, nobody talks to anybody, and there are countless workers whom nobody asks about. Our complaint was that the party should not abandon the way of its internal constitution, because the BJP is a cadre-based party. The party leadership has accepted this complaint of ours."
Vyas also said the party leadership has acknowledged that, while handling everything, some matters did not receive attention.
Vyas also put forward a demand. According to him, a process should be started to bring back into the party those who had left it during the municipal corporation elections, or who had been expelled for anti-party activities. Vyas said this was his demand.
